Day-By-Day Itinerary.

Day   1

Ushuaia, Argentina

Due to the vastness of Antarctica, longer expeditions are best for a deeper appreciation of all the continent offers. Expedition ships provide an extra measure of comfort and elegance while exploring the Falklands (Malvinas), South Georgia and the Antarctic Peninsula. Overnight in Ushuaia.

Day   2

Embarkation Day

Afternoon embarkation in Ushuaia, Argentina.

Day   3-5

Falkland Islands (Islas Malvinas)

While at sea for 24 hours, an in-depth, illustrated education program examines the flora and fauna that you will encounter. In the Falklands (Malvinas), you stroll through tussock grass where Kelp Geese graze and visit a Rockhopper Penguin rookery. You'll stop for tea with a local family before departing for South Georgia.

Day   6-11

Southern Ocean and South Georgia

After two days at sea, you arrive in South Georgia, an island synonymous with Sir Ernest Shackleton's rescue of the crew of Endurance. Your exploration includes a visit to his gravesite, a chapel and museum that depict how life was lived in this sheltered cove until it was abandoned in 1966. There will be visits to King Penguin rookeries and Zodiac cruises past beaches where elephant seal bulls protect their harems.

Day   12-17

South Shetland Islands and Antarctic Peninsula

To sail from South Georgia to the Antarctic Peninsula takes three days. During that time the Expedition Team prepares you for the landings that conjure iconic images of the Peninsula - Deception Island, Lemaire Channel, Neko Harbour, Paradise Bay, and Gerlache Strait. They are on our list of possible shore landings as we explore. You'll visit penguin colonies, listen for calving glaciers and visit historic sites or research stations.

Day   18-20

 The Drake Passage to Ushuaia

No matter what condition you find the Drake, this second crossing is a fitting end to the adventure.

Please note: read this itinerary as a guide only;
our exact route and program vary according to weather and ice conditions and the wildlife we encounter.
